Following is a list of Probascos that served in the Revolutionary War which I have found in my research. If you have a Probasco relative who served in the Revolutionary War and do not see them on this list, please email me with their information and I will be glad to add it to this list.
Served as an Orderly Sergeant in the 3rd Regiment, Monmouth County Militia, New Jersey under Captains Thoms Chadwick and Stephen Fleming. Served tours in 1781 and 1782. Clerk of an election in the 3rd Regiment, Monmouth County Militia where Thomas Wainwright was elected Captain; Jacob Fleming, 1st Lieutenant; Ephraim Buck, 2nd Lieutenant and Benjamin Brewer, Ensign on March 12, 1778. From the Pay Rolls, Onderdonk's - "Revolutionary Incidents, Queens County [NY]" he served as a sergeant and shows up in the list of men in Capt. Peter Nostrand's 4th Company stationed at Far Rockaway, Aug. 10, 1776. This list appears among Col. Josiah Smith's papers in the Suffolk Co. Historical Society at Riverhead.
Took the oath of allegiance to Washington's army and the government in Trenton, Hunterdon County (now Mercer), New Jersey, on the property of Gen. John Beatty. He was with Washington's army at Rocky Hill, near Princeton, in November of 1783 when it was disbanded. His name also appears on a roster in "Legacies of Washington, being a collection of the most approved writings of General Washington, with an appendix containing a sketch of this Illustrious Patriot".
Served as a Private in the Somerset County Militia, New Jersey under Captains Ten Eyck, Van Neste, Moore and Lott, Colonel's Van Dyke, Ten Eyck 2nd battalion and Colonel Frelinghuysen, 1st Somerset Company from June 1777 until 1782, and was at the Battle of Monmouth June 28, 1778 and at the battle of Springfield. He was a Revolutionary prisoner. (DAR Records 279004, 340920 and 769883; Pension Application S1084)
Served as a Captain in the Second Battalion of the New Jersey Militia. (National Register of the Society Sons of the American Revolution)
Served in Revolutionary War per the Revolutionary Census of New Jersey and shows up on the lists for Piscataway, Middlesex Co., NJ (List II) and Western Precinct, Somerset Co., NJ (List II).
